I grew up in southern Arizona where my husband and I met before he joined the Air Force. My father was a civilian K9 police officer and I always enjoyed working with his partner after he brought her home for good. I began working with animals as soon as I could by frequently visiting a family owned pet store near my home until I was old enough for them to hire me. I also worked at a boarding facility where I eventually learned to groom pets. When my husband’s military career took us to Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX I heard about the Military Working Dog Puppy in Training Foster Volunteer Program. As a foster volunteer we keep the puppies, typically Belgian Malinois or Dutch Shepherds, until they are about 7 months old and officially report for duty. During their time with fosters we help build their foundation by exposing them to various environmental stimulus, socialization, confidence building, bringing them to monthly training and any veterinarian appointments needed. My passion for working with dogs was reignited. I enjoyed being educated by the trainers at the program and guest trainers they brought in. Wanting to learn more, I enrolled in an intensive obedience course through the internationally renowned Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers. After my husband retired from the Air Force and our 2 boys moved out on their own we moved to the Great Falls area. We enjoy semi retired life with our 3 dogs; 2 Belgian Malinois, a Great Pyrenees mix, and our growing homestead!

Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, joined the military straight out of high school. I was Security Forces and found my calling working with K9, first alongside them as a young airman then later, as a handle myself. That chapter of my life didn’t just shape me, it completed something in my soul. One of the greatest honors of my career was getting to retire my first working dog. She was more than a partner, she was my bestfriend/companion. I’ve had a chance to live all over and travel the world, but no matter where I go, animals have always been the center of my heart. Today, I share my life with an amazing husband, two daughters, three dogs and two cats. We love spending time outdoors together, camping, hiking, and fly fishing. A fun fact about me as I love to crochet.

Hi, I’m Stef—a passionate dog trainer and K9 handler with a lifelong love for dogs that started when I was just five years old. I proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for six years as Security Forces and now work as a civilian private contracting K9 handler. I also work at the airport with TSA, continuing my commitment to safety and service. At home, I’m lucky to share life with my amazing husband, two step kids, and our pack of five dogs—each one a unique breed and personality. I believe every dog has potential, and I’m dedicated to helping them—and their humans—bring out the best in each other.
